Description
This newly constructed, custom home is situated on a ridge 1200 feet above the city of Homer and overlooking beautiful Kachemak Bay, the "Halibut Fishing Capital of the World." Homer and the famous spit are viewable from within this hybrid timberframe structure that features native Douglas Fir construction. Beaded pine ceilings and solid oak flooring make this property a warm and comfortable place for the ultimate in relaxation. Ceiling fans, a gas log fireplace, in-floor radiant heat and multi-level outdoor decks complete this ultimate Alaskan getaway with a real Million-Dollar View!
This home has a full walk-out basement that features a full size freezer to "keep your catch" and washer and dryer. Main floor includes queen bedroom with full bath and upper level include king bedroom with full bath. Upper level also includes a loft and "tower room" for viewing the Homer area with a 270 degree view. Tower loft also include a computer workstation and a queen pullout bed and two twin pull out beds.
The Homer Spit features the infamous "fishing hole" where you can catch many species of salmon without ever leaving the shore. You can charter fishing trips in the bay for a chance to catch a real "barn door" halibut, charter bear viewing trips, or just plain relax on the beach or visit the many shops, art studios, and the popular Pratt Museum. And, don't forget Homer's great dining establishments too!
Homer is one of the most popular tourist spots in Alaska. It is located at the western end of the Kenai Peninsula, a short and scenic four-hour drive south of Anchorage (225 miles) and easily accessible to Seward, Cooper Landing, and Kenai/Soldotna. Homer also has a commercial airport with numerous daily scheduled flights from Anchorage for those not wanting to drive down (although we highly recommend the drive as the scenery is breathtaking). The entire Kenai Peninsula has great fishing, marine life tours, whale watching, glacier viewing, whitewater rafting, and more fishing, fishing, fishing! It is the ideal location for a truly memorable vacation that you will never forget!
